our history

caire was conceived in the early 1980s while we were supervising clinical trials for international medical registration of new treatments for skin conditions. we noticed that trial group included many airline crew and the most affected were long haul crew. combining the aircrew's comments, and our own experience of long haul travel (since nearly every flight from New Zealand is long haul), we decided to make a real difference i.e. to actively find out how we could reduce the effects of jetlag, dehydration and skin problems caused by flying.

we researched and extensively tested many of the products that were given to passengers as amenities... and quite frankly, we were appalled. most items were in fact by-lines of women's cosmetics i.e. premier class passengers were being given make-up, the men included! nothing was being done to counteract severe skin dehydration, itchy sore red skin, dry mouth, nose and cracked lips. most products made many skin conditions significantly worse because of their ingredients. we decided to put a stop to this and began utilizing both our medical knowledge and natural medicine backgrounds.

caire was born.

we questioned a lot of frequent flyers - what they liked and wished for in amenities. then we made hundreds of different samples and tested them on real people, on real long haul flights.

while doing this we also worked closely with several airlines and found out the problems they experienced with things like passenger fluctuations, unsuitable packaging like glass, pressurized cans and leakages as well as their recycling needs. we made a commitment to the airlines to improve what they could offer to their VIP passengers. for example by saving weight in our packaging we are saving many airlines literally ten's of thousands of dollars in fuel burn alone, every year, as well as reduced wastage and lowering stock holding costs.

now with increased security required by airlines, increased consumer hygiene knowledge, Deep Vein Thrombosis, skin rashes, dehydration, lip cracking , dry nose and mouth, upset stomach, bacterial and viral infection... caire understands all of this, and makes life even more enjoyable while flying First and Business class, the way it should be.

caire ingredients and packaging are sourced from the 4 corners of the globe, using highly skilled technicians, all with the knowledge that what we are doing is to help people enjoy their flying rather than dreading it. the result is unique so many travelers, once experiencing the positive effects of caire products, continue to use them in their air-conditioned offices and take some with them whenever they fly. pilots and aircrew are also some of our most enthusiastic clients.
